Obama Radio & TV Correspondents Dinner Speech

Obama's jokes (who ever wrote them) were actually pretty funny last night. He did a pretty good job of delivery too. I love to watch these events no matter who's running the White House, it's always good for a laugh or two.

He jokes about Hilary Clinton and her recent fall, Brian Williams and his crush on Obama and even the fly swatting incident.

Check it out:

Another Detainee Bush Released Responsible for Innocent Lives Lost

(Said Ali al-Shihri, a man released under the Bush Administration)

T
here of course has been a lot of hoopla over president Obama's decision to close the Guantánamo Bay Detention Camp and possibly imprison some of the detainees in Supermax prisons here in the U.S. What wasn't and has not been given attention to is the fact that the Bush administration released over 500 from Gitmo, most without charge.

A number of those released, 74 were active in or suspected of being active in fighting against the United States or committing terrorist acts after being released. Those are just the ones they know about of course.

For some reason, conservatives who are up in arms over Obama's plan to close Gitmo, remained relatively silent when Bush released twice as many detainees than are currently still in custody in Gitmo back into the world.

Bush even released the current number two man with Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Said Ali al-Shihri. This man is making headlines today for being involved the abduction of nine foreigners, three whom have already been found dead. The remaining missing foreigners include three children under the age of six.

The news that these detainees were released is not something new, nor is the fact that some have returned to terrorism, but what has surprised me more than anything is the fact that under Bush over 400 potential terrorist were put back into the world and Obama has released three who's only guilt was being Muslim in China, but he is the naive one and gets all the criticism.

No outrage was directed a Bush for releasing killers, but Obama is considered a fool for suggesting putting these men be put in a facility where no one has ever escaped, and makes Gitmo look like a lightweight compared to how secure it is. Politics....I guess.

Fox News Fails to Break Republican Sex Scandal

Would a "Fair & Balanced" news network fail to report a republican sex scandal and pounce on a democrat one? It seems so. We know that our elected representatives are prone to sex scandals on the left and the right, and whenever one arises it's big news and easily makes headlines. So why would Fox News fail to deliver the goods on republican Nevada senator John Ensign's recent extramarital affair?

(Washington Post) Fox News producer explains why:
"As the day went on, it fell off my radar," Lowell said. When he heard the next day that Ensign had scheduled a news conference, "at that point I realized there might be credibility to these claims. . . . Should I have paid a little more attention to this e-mail? Sure."

Yeah it's easy as a top notch news network to drop the ball on a sex scandal on a 2012 presidential hopeful and rising star in the GOP......yep easy. Heads up to Fox though for the extensive coverage of the all important Senator Barbra Boxer dissing a general story.

Chris Matthews Needs a History Lesson

While me as an African American who can trace some of my relatives to slavery in the state of Mississippi, can care less if this country ever apologized to all African Americans for the past wrongs that were done to them.

Some may feel they do, but it does nothing for me. I only care how I and every other citizen Black or White is treated today.

Well the United States Congress on Thursday apologized for slavery, making it the second body in Congress to approve such a measure. The vote comes a year after the U.S. House of Representatives apologized for slavery.

While speaking with guests on his program today, Chris Matthews got irate over the fact that the whole country was apologizing for something the South was responsible for and the North fought. "Why should Pennsylvania apologize for something it fought and died opposing?" said Matthews.

Well I wanted to clarify a few things for the prestigious Mr.Matthews. The last northern state to abolish slavery was New Jersey in 1804. The first record of African slavery in Colonial America occurred in 1619. So that would be over 180 years of slavery that the north was party to. Slavery was abolished in Matthews home state of Pennsylvania in 1780, only 161 years there.

So Chris before you open your big fat mouth, try doing some research or at least brush up on history. Apology accepted, as if I cared.

The Daily Show: "The Oppression of House Republicans"

Stewart and crew go after republicans (two in particular) for comparing to what they are going through as a political minority to what millions of Iranians are experiencing living in an oppressed land under a dictator.

The Iranians show their support for republicans:

FOX News Whines Because They Are Now Second Fiddle to the White House

Far-Left, but always entertaining Daily Kos compiles a video selection that shows how Fox News has been whining about ABC News getting unprecedented access to the White House for the health care debate, while showing previous access Fox News was given under the Bush administration.

Journalism is dead, and has been for years. Everyone has an opinion. No one reports, all they do now is gossip and dig up dirt on the guy or guys they don't like.

PETA: "Fly Swatter in Chief"?

Being a liberal most people assume you love animals, eat nothing but veggies, sing Kumbaya all day and wear recycled clothing. Well that's only the crazy liberal left, not the sane ones.

I eat more red meat than anything, I hardly recycle, vegetables are my least favorite and I like animals.......just not as much as PETA does.

I officially hate PETA now. Yes hate. Whoever runs this kooky shit for brains operation needs to get their ass kicked. They waste so much time, money and energy on the most unproductive causes I have ever seen. Yesterday's action takes the cake. Watch the following video if haven't already to see what I'm talking about:

You probably already know what PETA said about the president's action toward that poor innocent little fly.

From Fox News:

The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

"We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals."

Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama's voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.

Still, "swatting a fly on TV indicates he's not perfect," Friedrich said, "and we're happy to say that we wish he hadn't."

Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

Of all the things going on in this country, even in the animal world, this is what PETA wants to make the news for, pathetic. This is one of the few times I'd be in favor of water-boarding somebody.

Palin Supporters Outside Letterman's Studio

I have nothing more to say but watch the class acts that showed up at Letterman protest in support of Sarah Palin:

The Daily Show: "Blame" (Video)

Stewart calls out FOX,CNN and MSNBC for their finger pointing for the James von Brunn shooting incident. It's sad that it takes a comedian and a few blogs to call out the media for irresponsible reporting like this. Crazy is crazy no matter what party they vote for.

Another Politician Gets Caught With His Pants Down

Presidential hopeful, Republican Sen. John Ensign of Nevada came forward today to admit to an affair. Talk about smart. Get it out the way now and you still got a couple years before the campaign starts up.

Don't get me wrong, he doesn't have a chance in hell of winning the republican presidential nomination and a affair will certainly hurt you with religious conservatives, but at least you have time to repair your image and start over again.

It hilarious how these guys on the right and the left preach values and family and all this crap and then always get busted with a aide worker or some prostitute. I'm certainly not judging the guy, I'm not perfect but then again I'm not on television acting like I am.

Another Taxpayer Paid Employee Caught Sending Racist E-mail

I don't understand why all these people keep getting caught sending racist e-mails, and most of them from their work e-mail addresses. This one comes from Sen. Diane Black (R) office.

From NashvilleisTalking:
When I asked her if she understood the controversial nature of the photo, Goforth would only say she felt very bad about accidentally sending it to the wrong list. When I gave her a second chance to address the controversial nature of the email, she again repeated that she only felt bad about sending it to the wrong list of people.

“I went on the wrong email and I inadvertently hit the wrong button,” Goforth told NIT. “I’m very sick about it, and it’s one of those things I can’t change or take back.”

(Just guessing but I think Obama is the one in the bottom right)

It is becoming the norm now, either an elected official does it, or somebody who works for them does the deed. This has to be the six or seven official that has gotten busted for sending out racist e-mails.

Guys, it's a free country and I actually have no problem with you being racist morons, just wait to you get home and send them out to your idiot friends then......okay?

Neil Boortz Wants to Take Away Voting Rights for the Poor

Right-winger Neil Boortz on his radio program today suggested that voting rights on anyone on section 8, people living in Katrina trailers and anyone on welfare should not be allowed to vote.

While there are a lot of people who take advantage of the system, I find this insulting and degrading for him to suggest that all people who rely on government assistance even the elderly should not have voting rights.

Growing up as a kid my father lost his job, and for six months we had to go on food stamps. It was embarrassing to say the least. Everyone, including me made fun of other kids who parents needed help.It was a humbling experience to now be the one of the people who were made fun of.

After hearing Neil Boortz rant on people on government assistance, I couldn't help but think of my dad. He served three years in the Vietnam war. After serving, he always took any job he could find, but unfortunately for six months he was unable to do so.

For Neil Boortz who never served a day in service (other than living on a military base with his daddy) to suggest my father who fought for this country should have no voting rights just because he fell on hard times makes my blood boil a bit.

Today, just like my father, there are veterans, elderly and struggling families who choose not to be on public assistance but have no other choice. And for those veterans on assistance who once fought for people like Neil Boortz to have the freedom to vote, he feels he should have that right and not them.

Military Taking All Comers.....Even White Supremacist

Iraq veteran Forrest Fogarty gives a one on one interview with Salon that you have to check out. He gives his account of going through recruitment and how easy it was for him to get in despite his clearly visible White supremacy tattoos, and he is not the only one.

I find this a little disturbing, although it's not the first of heard of it. Hate groups and street gang members are nothing new to military life, even though they go against everything this country stands for.

The problem now is, it is seeming like they are doing this systematically to draw more members by talking directly to White troops who my be sympathetic. Although I thought that Homeland Security bulletin that drew so much criticism from the right was written poorly, it might become more valid with things like this going on.

I guess desperate times call for desperate answers............I guess. Is this just something we should except even though it goes against Army regulations? Are you okay serving with someone who hates anyone other Anglo-Saxon heritage?

I wonder why they can serve, but a gay person can't, seems backwards to me.

When we have over qualified gay people getting kicked out of the service for nothing other than they like the same sex seems even more confusing to me now.
